Three Amazing Amazonian Amphibians

3. This last amphibian goes by many names, most commonly the plantation glass frog, but because of its translucent underside it has also been called the bare-hearted glass frog. As you can see in the video, although much of their organs are obscured by a white membrane, you can actually see this frog’s heart beat through its chest. Check it out!

These are just a few of the incredible plethora of frogs and toads that inhabit the Amazon, many of which haven’t yet been discovered. The Amazon Rainforest is the most biologically diverse area on the planet, but this amazing ecosystem is in danger of disappearing due to deforestation and agricultural development, among other problems like drought and forest fires.

But you can help! In celebration of Earth Day, you can protect the many species of the Amazon by giving a Gift that Gives More to help preserve this fragile habitat.
