The Great Wildebeest Migration is one of the most incredible sights in nature. There are nearly 1.5 million wildebeest in existence, and they are in a constant search for food, water, and peace.

Facts about the wildebeest: They are the most populous game in Africa – mentioned above, there are 1.5 million wildebeest in the wild today! They are one of the largest species of antelope in the world — they can weigh up to 600 pounds and reach 8 feet in length! Due to harsh conditions, wildebeest migrate up to 500-1000 miles during the summer months.

Wildlife photographer Will Burrard-Lucas was able to experience this massive migration first-hand, and called it “among the most awe-inspiring” scenes he had ever witnessed. Time-lapse, he said, “was the only medium that allowed us to convey the magnitude of the migration.”
