Three Southern Right Whales Surround Paddle Boarders In Argentina

If you live near the water and enjoy getting some exercise while at the same time, taking in the sights and sounds, you might enjoy the paddle boarding.

Then again, you never quite know what you are going to see when you’re out on the water.

People who know this all too well include Mariana Gioielli and Paolo Osta. They were out paddling near Puerto Madryn, in the Argentine Patagonia, when they received unexpected visitors.

While the paddlers were out of the water, they shot a video of three southern right whales approaching the boards. They were concerned about the whales and hoped that they didn’t get knocked into the water.

As the whales approached, they continued to take videos as the woman spoke kindly to the mammals. Gioielli is laughing nervously throughout the video, perhaps trying to decide if she should stick around to see what happens or try to get away.

Osta can be seen trying to paddle away from the whales but they continue to circle them and even bring their tails up next to the board.

He says he wants to get out of there, but his companion seems to be relaxing and enjoying the experience.

As they begin to paddle toward the shore, one of the whales raises a flipper, almost as if it was waving goodbye. They continue their trip to the shore and reach it successfully.

This occurred in August 2022 but it is now going viral. It was certainly a once-in-a-lifetime experience and something that these two paddlers will reflect upon every time they get out on the water.
