The Mammal with Scales
The pangolin gets its unique look from the pine cone-like scales that cover its body, which are made of the same material as human fingernails. Although this scaly mammal doesn’t walk very fast, it can curl up into a ball and and use its hard exterior to protect itself from predators. Like anteaters, the pangolin has a quick, overly salivated tongue that can quickly dart out and collect its prey, which are mostly ants and termites.
