The horned lizard has some interesting defense maneuvers. Besides puffing itself up and rolling on the ground, it also has the unique ability to project blood at threatening predators. It can shoot a stream of blood from its eye socket up to five feet high (1.5 m), and can even dictate which direction it goes.
