Top Five Friday: Five Photos (Plus Ten Facts!) About the Ocelot

A joint project between the Rainforest Site, GreaterGood, and the Sky Alliance is working to preserve 32,000 acres (50 square miles) of habitat in the Sierra de Huérfana Sky Island. 1. Ocelots are also known as the Dwarf Leopard and McKenney’s Wildcat.

2. Just like tigers and jaguars, ocelots are good swimmers and actually enjoy an occasional dip in the water.

3. Female Ocelots are called Queens. The males are called torns.

4. A group of ocelots is called a clowder or a clutter. For example, “Look at that clutter of ocelots cuddled up together. They’re so cute!”
