Photographer Films A Snail Eating A Strawberry In Extreme Macro

Snails can be such pests in the garden. Even though they’re so slow-moving, it’s incredible just what kind of damage they can do to plants.

Oh, and don’t even get me started on the weird little snail trails they leave everywhere as well. While we might be fighting a losing battle with these tiny garden menaces, we don’t really know what it looks like when they eat our plants.

It’s actually quite a spectacle. A photographer from Another Perspective, Jens Heidler, was actually able to capture incredible macro footage of a snail going to town feasting on a strawberry.

All of this was filmed in slow-motion, so you can really see the details of just how snails it.

While it might be so annoying to wake up and find holes have been munched into your plants, it’s pretty cool to see just how snails eat.

In the video, you can see just how the gastropod first recognizes a potential meal by using its retractable eyes, before then moving in to have a field day eating the bright red berry.
