It’s always interesting to go to the beach. You never quite know what you are going to find hiding in the sand. For some, finding a sand dollar is a treat and they may hold onto it for many years.
On Sunday, August 15, it would’ve been no problem to find sand dollars if you are heading down to the southern end of Seaside Beach in Oregon.

The picture of the sand dollars showed that they were along the high tide line at the south end of the beach. When the afternoon tide rolled out, the sand dollars were left in place.

If a sand dollar is washed up on shore, they can only survive for a few minutes. They quickly dry up, which gives them the appearance that we are familiar with seeing.
Although nobody is really sure why these sand dollars washed up on shore in this way, the Seaside Aquarium says that it may be due to a number of factors.
They went on Facebook to post about the incident, saying that thousands of those live sand dollars were onshore at the south end of the beach.
Unfortunately, the sand dollars that washed up on shore dried up and died quickly.
