Sweet Rescue Beaver Begs Mom For A Treat

Who doesn’t love a treat every now and then?

If you’ve ever had a dog in your life, you realize they can be masters of begging for snacks. My dog has learned that I won’t give him handouts, but he can look at the rest of my family with his big “puppy dog eyes” and get a taste of whatever they’re having.

As it turns out, it’s not just dogs that are great at begging for food, beavers are as well!

Just take a rescue beaver named JB, for example.

JB the beaver is an educational ambassador at Second Chances Wildlife Center in Mount Washington, Kentucky. In an adorable video the center shared on YouTube, you can see JB standing in the kitchen and putting on his best begging pose to ask his caretaker for a treat from the fridge.

When the woman asks what he wants, JB puts his little paws out in anticipation. It’s unusual to see a beaver in a home, but it’s even more strange to see a beaver begging for food in a home! While unusual to see, it’s incredibly adorable and hilarious.

As the wildlife center shared on YouTube, “Our animals are native wildlife that come to us for rehabilitation and safe release. We also have some education animals that stay with us as they would not be able to survive on their own in the wild. We commit to caring for them for the remainder of their lives as they help educate the public on ecology and conservation.”

JB fell into the latter category, meaning that since he couldn’t be safely released back into the wild, he got to stay at the rescue and become a wildlife ambassador!

As a wildlife ambassador, JB has the opportunity to help educate the public on beaver rehabilitation and life. As you can tell from the video, he’s really doing a great job at getting people interested in beavers. If nothing else, he’s certainly adorable, and the video has racked up more than 5 million views!
