Although the Portuguese man-of-war may look like a jellyfish, this gelatinous organism is actually a colony of individual creatures that have inextricably linked together to form a much larger “superorganism.” Each individual within the colony is called a zooid, and each zooid has its own specialty. Together, they form one of the more deadly colonial organisms.
