Orangutan At Louisville Zoo Loves Seeing Visitors’ Little Babies

There’s just something about babies that makes them special. Even if you don’t have a baby in your life and family, you still love it when someone else has one nearby.

It seems as if orangutans may feel the same way about babies as we do.

The Louisville Zoo in Kentucky is the scene of a rather interesting event that happens any time an infant is nearby. One of the orangutans at the zoo can’t help but gesture to bring the child closer.

This included one time when Kayla Jaylen Natsis, a mother with a three-month-old son, brought the boy to the glass. That little boy, Jordan, was staring through the glass and the orangutan appeared to kiss the glass between them.

That orangutan female has asked to meet other babies in the past. Another one was shared on TikTok when Shalena Hittle said the orangutan gestured to meet her two-week-old baby.

The orangutan’s name is Amber and she is 35 years old. She was born in St. Paul, Minnesota at the Como Park Zoo in 1987. She moved to Louisville in 1996.

Amber is friendly and curious and has a playful personality. If you have a young one when you visit her enclosure, don’t be surprised if you want to meet.

According to ABC News, in the 1980s, Amber and her brother, Teak, were seven and nine months old when they appeared on Late Night with David Letterman.

A conservationist even had to correct Letterman when he referred to them as monkeys.

Amber is not only friendly with youngsters, but she also doesn’t mind having some fun every once in a while.
