These gorillas are not like the funny ones in Disney’s Tarzan, yet for one adventurer, they were as kind to him as one would hope all wildlife can be.
John J. King II is a Northeast United States native and is a graduate of St. George’s School in Newport, Rhode Island and the University of Pennsylvania, where he received a Bachelor’s Degree in Anthropology. John retired from the business world in January 2008 to return to his great love of adventure in the wild. According to his Linkedin page, “With a tireless interest in experiencing the earth’s wild places, John has traveled to all seven continents seeking out distinct cultures and vanishing wildlife.”
Now a wildlife photographer and conservationist, King had a potentially scary, but amazing experience in 2011. King never imagined he’d have the opportunity to get up close and personal with a troop of mountain gorillas. But that is exactly what happened when he traveled to a private safari camp in Uganda.
