Drone Captures Exact Moment A Moose Loses His Antlers

Have you ever witnessed something that was truly remarkable? We may have seen interesting things, but I’m talking about something that you could never hope to see more than once in a lifetime.

That is exactly what a wildlife photographer in Canada experienced while flying his drone. He considers it a once-in-a-lifetime moment, and we can easily see why.

Derek Keith Burgoyne was flying his drone near Plaster Rock, New Brunswick. It was the middle of January, and he saw something he would never have expected.

The drone was hovering over three bullmoose, and he started taking some video. Two of the moose had already lost their antlers, something they do every year. The third moose still had both of his antlers.

As the video was rolling, the moose started shaking his head and body. Suddenly, both antlers were thrown simultaneously and landed in the snow.

After the moose dropped his antlers, he ran away from the scene. That allowed Burgoyne to move in and grab the antlers that the moose lost.

This isn’t the first time that Burgoyne has seen a moose shedding antlers, but it is the first time he saw a moose shedding both antlers simultaneously and caught it on film.

According to The Indian Express, Burgoyne said it was similar to winning the lottery of filming wildlife. He went on to say: “A bull can shed one antler and carry the other side for days or even weeks. So to capture both antlers shedding at the exact time is extremely rare! Once-in-a-lifetime moment!”
