Filmmaker Captures Stunning Time-Lapse Of The Mojave Desert At Night

The Mojave desert is a special place full of incredible wildlife and ecology. The National Park Service claims that the desert “encourages a sense of discovery and a connection to wild places” and we couldn’t agree more.

If you’ve ever been to Joshua Tree or the surrounding area, you know just how incredible it feels to explore the rock formations, cacti, and beauty of the natural world.

While most people visit the area during the day, the nighttime brings its own form of wonder.

Filmmaker Gavin Heffernan of Sun Chaser Pictures managed to capture the beauty of the desert at night using time-lapse technology so you can experience it for yourself at home!

He shared the video on YouTube, writing: “Throw on headphones and zen out to some sparkling Mojave night sky stars and star trails timelapses.”

He captured the footage at “various locations” near Joshua Tree National Park.

He explained of the video, “this night sky compilation uses a full moon to ‘paint’ the foreground, giving the visuals a surreal psychedelic ‘daylight’ feeling.”
