Winds from Hurricane Michael have topped 155 miles per hour and left devastation throughout Florida’s panhandle region. It’s one of the four most powerful hurricanes to ever cross the U.S., and residents of the Southeast are still reeling from the damage.
Yet, in even the most violent storms, there’s a glimmer of hope to be found, and Florida resident Stefan Melendez found it while recording video in the eye of the hurricane.
“You can see the sun… blue sky, right in the eye,” he can be heard saying in the now viral video.
Melendez recorded the incredible shot on Wednesday afternoon from a calm spot on Daytona Beach, about 20 miles away from the most dangerous storm his community has ever lived through.
