The Pacific Northwest is currently experiencing quite the heatwave. While heatwaves are uncomfortable for people, we can’t forget about our pets or the wildlife that share our surrounding space.
Animals can feel just as miserable in the heat as we do, which is why it’s a nice idea to leave out plenty of water so that our furry friends can help themselves to a refreshing drink.
But one person in Portland has done one better. Joe Rojas-Burke treated a parched squirrel to a cooling ice cube on his back fence.
The science writer who works for the OHSU Knight Cancer Institute in Portland, Oregon, was kind enough to set out some ice for the little squirrel so he could get some relief from the record-breaking heatwave, and the resulting footage was just too adorable.
