Man Meets The Indigenous Tribes Of Vanuatu Islands

Most people know of Fiji and how beautiful and relaxing it is. Have you ever heard of Vanuatu, though? It’s a lesser-known country just 500 miles from Fiji, and it’s bursting with the same type of pristine coastlines and gorgeous water.

Brodie Moss, the Australian vlogger behind the popular YouTube channel YBS Youngbloods, recently took a vacation to Vanuatu and he made sure to document his trip for his followers.

According to Britannica, Vantu is a republic-operated country in the southwestern Pacific Ocean, consisting of 13 main islands and many smaller islands.

The indigenous population, known as ni-Vanautu, is largely Melanesian with some Polynesian populations mixed in. Britannica reports that around 75% of the indigenous populations live in rural areas and the islands have some of the lowest school attendance and adult literacy rates in the entire Pacific region.

Even so, with English and French being the country’s official languages, it’s no surprise that the indigenous people are familiar with Westerners and have an ever-growing tourist industry.

While visiting Vanuatu, Moss had the opportunity to immerse himself in the local, rural culture. He described the experience as “wild” and “amazing,” and he even filmed parts of it for the world to enjoy!

He shared the video on YouTube, and you can see indigenous performers dressed in traditional clothing and performing a traditional dance.

The tourist experience ended with a nice swim in the water with locals. It really seemed like a unique and fun activity, getting a taste of what the indigenous tribes once lived like.
