Firefighters Save Canada Goose Frozen To The Sand Along Lake Michigan

A Canada goose in Michigan found himself in a scary situation when he became frozen to the very sand he nested in. Thankfully, he wouldn’t be trapped long because Good Samaritans stepped up and help wasn’t far away.

The Indiana Department of Natural Resources Law Enforcement took to Facebook to share about the frozen Canada goose and subsequent rescue efforts.

They explained in the post that the Indiana Conservation Officers were contacted about a Canada goose that “found itself frozen in the wet sand along the edge of Lake Michigan at Indiana Dunes State Park.”

Some Good Samaritans had attempted to free the poor thing, but all of their rescue efforts proved futile. Despite multiple attempts by different people, the goose remained frozen and stuck.

Knowing the goose needed assistance and couldn’t be left to its own devices, officials called in the Porter Volunteer Firefighters, Inc. who were more than happy to assist.

Firefighters were able to set up a hose to help melt the water around the goose. Thankfully, it didn’t take long and firefighters managed to free the goose from its frozen predicament.
