Five Amazing Avians that Call the Sky Islands Home

Broad billed Hummingbird

Broad-billed Hummingbird-male-SIAThe metallic-green sheen of the broad-billed hummingbird makes it an eye-catching addition to the Sky Islands. Feeding on the nectar from flowers and flowering trees, this little guy needs to consume around 1.6 to 1.7 times its body weight in nectar each day. It visits Arizona in the summer months, but a separate population lives in Mexico all year round.
