Meet The Beautiful And Terrifying Dracula Parrot That Can Only Be Found In New Guinea

The bird lovers of the world are always showing us new and interesting sights. Who knew that there were so many gorgeous birds to be found throughout the world? The parrot is one of the more incredible birds of all. While most of us converse with our pets, we often long for a pet that is able to talk back. This is where the parrot comes into play.

When most of us think of parrots, we imagine colorful birds that love to talk. However, there are many people who are unaware of the fact that these birds come in a wide range of hues. If you are someone who has always admired parrots but wish that they came in darker colors, this is the story for you.

The Dracula parrots are much less bright and they are often colorless. They are the perfect parrot for anyone who considers themselves to be more of a Gothic type. They remind us of vampire movies without even trying to do so. We guess that must be part of their charm. The Dracula parrot species is actually known as the Pesquet’s parrot…but we think that we like Dracula parrot better.

Once you have seen these birds, you will not be able to believe your eyes. They look like something that would be perched on a horror movie villain’s shoulders. Iago might have been the bird that Jafar loved most in Aladdin but that is only because he had yet to meet the Dracula parrot for himself. Bela Lugosi would definitely be proud to be associated with these birds.

They look like they are wearing one of his famous Dracula costumes! We cannot get over these parrots. They are as beautiful as they are terrifying. These parrots actually hail from the New Guinea mountains. Since their heads are half bald, believed to keep them safe from stickiness with their diet of figs, it makes them easier for the average zoologist to identify.

Unfortunately, the Dracula parrot finds themselves being hunted by poachers on a more regular basis than necessary. Their population is starting to dwindle as a result. That’s one of the many reasons why we are sharing this story with a wider audience. Let’s all do our part to raise awareness so that these birds are able to live freely.
