Man Builds Custom Tiny Home For Wild Squirrels That Visit Him
A kindhearted man living in Los Angeles, California went viral back in May 2022 for the relationship he’s formed with the squirrels that live outside his home.
Derrick Downey Jr shared a video on Instagram of himself feeding and offering water to two adorable, friendly squirrels.
Since being shared, the video received over one million views and had thousands of comments. People wanted to know more about Derrick and his relationship with squirrels, so he started revealing more and more on social media.
In a video shared by The Dodo, Derrick explains that he initially formed a bond with one friendly squirrel named Richard. He started feeding Richard and eventually, he even built a custom tiny home for the squirrel to live in!
It was really something special, and it seems that Richard told a few friends about the sweet setup because it wasn’t long before other squirrels started showing up.
One squirrel, in particular, didn’t get along well with Richard. Maxine and Richard would often fight for Derrick’s attention and treats like they were born enemies.
However, over time, Derrick started noticing the two were getting along. They would even hang out together without fighting!
They may have started as enemies, but in the end, they became fast friends.
