Synchronous Fireflies Create a Beautiful Symphony of Light
Did you know that some fireflies are able to are able to synchronize their light patterns with each other? Synchronous fireflies are the only species in the United States that are able to do so, and they use it as part of their mating ritual. In this amazing video, filmmaker Harum Mehmedinovic filmed this symphony of fireflies at Elkmont Ghost Town, Great Smoky Mountains National Park using time-lapse photography. Watch how these fireflies seem to flash in unison.
