A ray of hope ran through wildlife enthusiasts and conservationists when hidden trap cameras captured the images of a healthy baby Javan rhinoceros in the Ujung Kulon National Park in Indonesia. The park is the last refuge of the surviving Javan rhinos.
In the footage, the little one gambols about as it is accompanied by its watchful mother. The baby rhinoceros is so adorable and playful, it is hard to imagine why anyone would want to harm it. But rhinos are severely under threat from poachers for their horns, which are used in traditional Chinese and Vietnamese medicine. Check it out!
The Javan rhinoceros is critically endangered, but wildlife conservationists are determined to pull it back from the brink. You can do your part by making a small contribution to conservation efforts.Whizzco
