Get a Glimpse of the Amazon’s Incredibly Rare Pink River Dolphin
When we think of dolphins, usually we picture these creatures swimming cheerfully in an expanse of ocean. As you’ll learn from this video, there are five species of dolphin that actually live in freshwater environments — and one of them is bright pink. Some of the pink river dolphins are pale blue or even albino, but they become more pink as they age and their skin becomes more translucent, showing more of their blood. These amazing creatures are very flexible because of their unfused cervical vertebrae, which allows them to move quickly through the water.
Unfortunately, dolphins as a species are becoming more and more rare, to the point where some of them, such as the Baiji River dolphin, are even going extinct.
