Carnivorous Caterpillars?

In Hawaii, 18 of the the 20 native species of caterpillars have evolved in an interesting and unusual way: they’re now carnivorous. Instead of snacking on leaves for nourishment, these predatory larvae grab onto another food source — insects! And the motivation behind their transformation from vegetarian to bug-hungry have scientists stumped.
