Woman Rescues An Adorable Kitten That Turns Out To Be A Bobcat
In Chattanooga, Tennessee, a woman named Jill Hicks rescued an adorable kitten she saw running across the road. When she went home and showed it to her neighbor, she was shocked to learn that it was actually a bob kitten.
She took the cat to For Fox Sake Wildlife Rescue, where the young feline was dubbed “Arwen.”
“Even though I thought she was a kitten, had I known she was a bobcat, [being] that small and in that high trafficked area, I still would have done the same thing,” Hicks told local news station WATE.
It’s a good thing this “stray kitten” was properly identified before it was too late for her to be rehabilitated! An…
For Fox Sake will take care of Arwen until she’s healthy enough to be returned to the wild. On September 25, they posted an update saying, “She’s doing great and has gained two ounces since her arrival here,” they wrote. However, they’re treating her for anemia (you can donate to Arwen’s cause and other animals here).
Arwen is world-famous for being mistaken for a domestic kitten by her well-meaning finder! We appreciate all the…
On September 26, For Fox Sake said that many people had been asking how to adopt Arwen. “There is a 0 percent chance that Arwen, or any other bobkitten, will grow up to be a suitable house pet,” they wrote. “Even when raised by humans, bobcats are unpredictable, territorial wild animals with a powerful prey drive and no desire to please human beings.”
We think this is because people didn’t bother to read the description that she was a bob kitten and not a normal kitten.
This isn’t the first time something like this has happened. Last year in San Antonio, TX three people mistook two bobcats for a pair of Bengal kittens. After the kitten bit them, they took them to animal rescue and found out they weren’t what they thought they were.
The way to tell the difference between a bobcat and a cat is that bobcats have spots and sometimes have black tuffs of fur on their ears.
