Won’t Someone Save These Beautiful Penguins!?

Penguins are classically thought of as living in earth’s coldest environments, but there is actually one species of penguin that lives on the coast of southwest Africa: the black-footed African penguin.

These strong swimmers can traverse nearly forty miles of water at a time at up to twelve miles an hour, and their unique plumage gives them a nifty advantage over predators both above and below the ocean’s surface.

Watch the video to check out the adorable and endangered African penguins.

Despite how happy they may look in the video, African penguins are in desperate need of immediate help. In the past three generations, the African penguin population has dropped by 60%, and hundreds of baby penguins are currently in danger of starvation. You can feed a rescued penguin chick for a full week by donating to our Gift that Give More, which will go a long way in bringing this species back from the brink of extinction.
